Two British Nationals Arrested in Kenya for Alleged Links with Militant Outfit Al Shabaab


NAIROBI, Kenya (Oct. 18) – Police sources have confirmed the detention of two British nationals in Kenya on account of their alleged links with militant outfit al Shabaab.

Deputy police spokesman Charles Owino told that there were two British citizens who were arrested yesterday.
"We suspect that they are coordinating the activities of al Shabaab or maybe they were passing on information to these people," Owino further said.
The two Brits, believed to be from Welsh capital Cardiff, were arrested on Sunday near the Somalian border where a British woman Judith Tebbut was abducted and her husband David was killed at their holiday resort last month.

Recently quite a few foreigner have been kidnapped including two Spanish aid workers and a French on his holiday trip. No body has yet claimed the responsibility but al Shabaab is believed to be on the back of such kidnaps.
Although al Shabaab has refuted their involvement in the kidnappings; but Kenya has started an army action into western Somalia to kill the growing threat of militants.

Kenya Sweat Australia for the Victory at Bangalore

BANGALORE – Zimbabwe put up a decent fight before going down by 60 runs here at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru against defending champion Australia.

Kenyans first time in the tournament made their opponents fight hard for the win and that were none other than Australians.

Chasing a big total of 325 they showed a real fight against one of the top bowling attack in the world. They had not a very good start but the fourth wicket partnership of 116 runs between Collins Obuya (98*)........ More Here.

Lasith Malinga and Upul Tharanga Led Sri Lanka to a Huge Victory by 9 Wickets

COLOMBO – Sri Lanka thrashed Kenya by 9 wickets. Openers, Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan, started the 143-run chase in a brutal way smashing Kenyan bowlers all over the park. They just lost Dilshan after scoring 44 runs off just 30 balls before reaching trivial target. Kumar Sangakkara (27 runs off 24 balls) joined Tharanga (67 runs off 59 balls) in the same fashion and finished the game in just 18.4 overs.  

Earlier, Kenya won the toss and elected to bat first. Kenyan innings wrapped up for paltry 142 courtesy to half centuries by Obuya brothers. Collins Obuya scored 52 off 100 balls; while David Obuya made 51 runs off 106 balls. No other batsman succeeded to enter into double figure score.

Cricket World Cup - Malinga Scrapped Kenya With His Six Wickets Including a Hat-trick

COLOMBO – Lasith Malinga picked up six wickets including a hat-trick; which is his second hat-trick of the career and world cups as well. He has done the same with South African team; where he picked up 4 wickets in 4 balls. Malinga picked up three out of total six wicket in his 8th over.

This is the second hat-trick of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011; as Kemar Roach has done the same the other night against Netherlands picking up last three wickets on three successive deliveries.

Feb. 23: Cricket World Cup Summary - Pakistan Won by 205 Runs Against Kenya

HAMBANTOTA – Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi leading from the front took Pakistan to huge victory of 205 runs over Kenya. Afridi claimed 5 wickets for just 16 runs zipping through the Kenyan batsmen. Umar Gul also bowled a good spell for his two wickets. Only bit of resistance was shown by Collins Obuya who scored 47 off 58 balls. Only top four Kenyan batsmen succeeded to get into double figure. Batting tail brutally ripped off by Afridi.

Earlier Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Being overcautious in the very beginning Pakistan openers, Muhammad Hafeez and Ahmed Shazad, left Pakistan in trouble on 12/2 in six overs. Yonis Khan (50 runs off 67 balls) and Kamran Akmal (55 runs off 67 balls) put a good partnership of 98 runs to get Pakistan out of trouble to some extent.

Cricket World Cup 2011 - Younis Khan, Misbah and Akmal Brothers Smashed Half Centuries for Pakistan

Hambantota, Sri Lanka - Pakistan set a huge total of 317/7 after winning the toss and elected to bat. Four half centuries were scored by Pakistani batsmen with Umar Akmal topped with his smart 71 off just 52 balls. Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal contributed good patches of runs with 50, 65, and 55 respectively. 

Kenyan bowlers gave away 46 runs as extras.
