2 Somali Pirates Killed While 16 Captured by Dutch Marine: Dutch Defence Ministry

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — According to sources from Dutch defence ministry; in an operation against Somali pirate off the coast of Somalia on Sunday, their marines have killed 2 pirates while 16 others were detained. An Iranian fishing boat was set free in this operation.

In an official statement released on Monday, Defence Ministry spokesperson Marloes Visser, told that the operation was spontaneous when pirates started firing on two inflatable speed boats, sent to inspect the apprehensive fishing vessel. 

In response to firing from pirates Dutch marines responded equally which killed two of the pirates while 10 were captured trying to escape on speed boat and 6 were detained from the hijacked Iranian boat, she further told.

Somali Pirates Killed Four U.S. Citizens Kidnapped for Ransom - - Hillary Clinton "Deeply Sadened" on the Incident

WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton, U.S. Secretary of State, said the U.S. government was "deeply saddened and very upset by the murder of four American citizens" -- a "deplorable act" that underlined the need for more international cooperation against the pirates.

Hillary Clinton expressed the condolences after the four U.S. hostages killed by Somali pirates on Tuesday. Reportedly these Americans were kidnapped by the pirates for ransom while they were on their private yacht off Somalia.   

According to U.S. military sources the hostages were killed before special forces took control of the pirates’ ship. The U.S. special forces took fifteen pirates into custody during the raid killing two of them; while two of the pirates were dead before the troops boarded into the vessel, the military sources further said.

Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse, Somali Pirate, Sentenced a Prison of More Than 33 Years by U.S. Court

NEW YORK - Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse, Somali pirate pleaded guilty of kidnapping, hijacking and hostage-taking in May 2009, was sentenced a prison of 33 years and 9 months by a U.S. Court on Wednesday. 



Abdukhadir was the only survived member of pirate group who hijacked Maersk Alabama container ship in the Indian Ocean in April 2009; which was set free after U.S. Navy’s rescue operation in the ocean. He was transferred United States later on in May 2009.   

Abdukhadir was only 16 years of age at the time of the 2009 hijacking attempt. Defense attorney Fiona Doherty had requested for a 27-year sentence, referring his young age and his growing up in the "failed state" of Somalia.
