Breaking News: Water Level Increasing in Nala Lai Threatening Flood-like Situation in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (July 16) - - Breaking News: Heavy monsoon rains have caused flood-like situation in Nala Lai (Lai Drainage) early on Saturday morning. Emergency has been declared in the areas around Nala Lai as the water level is increasing rapidly due to the continuous rains.

According to latest updates; the Nala Lai water level at Katarian point has reached at 18 feet while the level at Gawalmandi is at 11 feet. 



Talking to a private TV news channel Muhammad Hanif, Director MET, told that the water level at Katarian points is at 16 feet due to heavy rains in the area recoded at 70 mm. The current water level at Gawalmandi is 11 feet and expected to rise 3-4 feet further as flood water will reach there from Katarian.

“There’s no threat of flood as the rain has been stopped”, he further told.

Residents of the area have been warned to be careful while there’s no evacuation warning has been issued.
