Facebook Mania: 1 Million Under Age Kids in UK Access Facebook Everyday

LONDON – A recent study conducted by Mintel, a London-based market research firm, concluded that about one million British under-teen children, aged between 7 and 12, use Facebook - a social networking platform with more than 800 million users worldwide - on a daily basis.

Under-age Kids Using Facebook
Ina Mitskavets, a researcher at Mitel, said, “Today's children are well versed in all aspects of the internet, with almost a million children aged seven to twelve using Facebook - highlighting just how popular the site has become.”

The study further suggests that 50 per cent the British children aged between 7 and 12 access social networking websites, out of which, 49 percent or around 970,000 access Facebook every single day. The study shows that more than half of the children accessed Facebook from their desktops while 10 per cent of children use mobile devices to use Facbook.

Although Facebook , restricts children under the age of 13 to join the social networking site but, according to another survey, parents of the children help their underage children to open accounts on Facebook.

The study also revealed that the rest of the 50% children accessing social networking platforms do it irregularly while only 5 percent of the children don't use it at all.

Pressure from their friends is a major reason which motivates children to create accounts on social networking platforms, the study concluded in the end.

Butt was sentenced to two and a half years, Asif was handed a one-year term, while the 19-year-old Amir was sentenced to six months of prison time by the Southwark Crown Court here.

Pilots' deadly mistake caused the plane crash that killed Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Ice Hockey Team: Invstigators

MOSCOW, Russia – Pilot has been found guilty in the plane crash in which an entire professional ice hockey team was killed in September this year (read initial report HERE) , investigators said today after finalizing their report.

Russian Yak-42 Crash Killed Entire Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Ice Hockey Team in Sept. 2011
Second rated training and poor safety standards were the main causes behind the fatal crash that killed all 44 on board, the Interstate Aviation Committee reported.

The Committee said the Sept. 7 crash of the Yak-42 plane near the city of Yaroslavl in central Russia occurred because one of the pilots unintentionally applied the brakes while the plane was taking off and then being in panic lifted the jet too sharply.

Alexei Morozov, who led the investigation, said the crew still had sufficient time to cancel the takeoff securely at the moment when they knew that it had gone terribly wrong.

Morozov blamed the plane's owner, Yak-Servis, for failing to comply with safety standards and effectively train their flying team.

He added that a health condition of the second pilot and the prohibited medicine he had taken contribute to the tragedy.

The Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team had been on its way to Minsk, Belarus, for the opening game of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) season. The plane crashed into the banks of the Volga River, 240 kilometers northeast of Moscow.
