North Waziristan is one of 7 districts in Pakistan's tribal region and generally believed to be a shelter for the Haqqani network and other militant groups that play a big part in terrorism and the militancy across the border in Afghanistan.

According to CNN reports; Today's drone attack was the sixth this year. There were more than 60 drone strikes last year and more than 110 in 2010.

Rescuers started the task of removing the burnt bodies on Wednesday, as distressed relatives kept crying openly, clinging to each other as they mourned the deaths of their loved ones.

Survivors expressed the tragic scenes of prisoners pleading for help as they were caught by choking smoke and flames, some unable to flee because they were still shackled to the bars of their cells.

I only saw flames, and when we got out, they were being burned, up against the bars, they were stuck to them," said Eladio Chicas, 40, who was in his 15th year of a 39-year sentence.

"It was something horrible," he said as he was led away by police, handcuffed, to testify before a local court about what he saw. "This is a nightmare."

Ajmal, Afridi, Rehman and Hafeez -- England have no way out in the ODI series opener today at Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, UAE (Feb. 13) – After being outclassed by Pakistan in the Test series England certainly had a tough task ahead to prove their presence in the ODI series starting today. It will be interesting to see the strategy of England as they are set to face Pakistan in the first of the 4-match ODI series today here at Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium.

England have no way out in the ODI series opener today at Abu Dhabi
In the current series, the Pakistan’s squad for the four ODIs against England is a very balanced one with the right blend of fine batsmen, quality all-rounders and world class bowlers. While Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq bring their experience into play in the middle order, Pakistan also have talented youngsters like Imran Farhat, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal and Azhar Ali.

The presence of all-rounders like Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik provides the added strength to both batting and the bowling departments.

Although England has been thrashed by Pakistan in the Test series but the presence of youngsters like Craig Kieswetter, Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow promises to add some freshness to the English batting, which has loads of difficulties in facing quality spin attack from Pakistan during Test series.

Contempt of Court: PM Gilani Charged, Could Face Jail Term and Removal

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Feb.13) – A seven-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan, headed by Justice Nasir ul Mulk, has accused country’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for contempt of court today (Monday, Feb. 13).

PM Gilani Charged with Conpempt, Could Face Jail Term and Removal

According to further details; the two-paged charge sheet against PM Gilani, duly signed by all seven judges of the bench, was read out in court. Mr Gilani reportedly said he had read and understood the accusation order.

PM Gilani has also expressed his point of view in court and pleaded not guilty of contempt. Mr Gilani has been involved by Pakistan's apex court for refusing to obey its orders to reopen cases against the Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan.

State media and private news channels are reporting that if found guilty PM Gilani could be sentenced a 6-month jail term and face likely removal from office after being disqualified from holding public office for 5 years.

Some legal experts are of the view that the President has the power to pardon Mr. Gilani if he is convicted, while the Prime Minister, talking to Al Jazeera TV on Saturday, had shown his intentions to resign, in case he is convicted.

A noted lawyer and parliamentarian, S. M. Zafar, said that if Mr Gilani is convicted and if he is granted a presidential pardon, it would apply only to the punishment handed down by the court while the conviction would remain on record. Therefore, the premier could be disqualified despite the pardon, he observed.

On Friday (Feb. 10), Pakistan's top court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, dealt a major blow to Mr Gilani by turning down his appeal against framing of contempt charges over his failure to act on its repeated orders to revive cases of alleged money laundering against Asif Ali Zardari in Switzerland. Mr Gilani personally appeared in the court when it took up the contempt case on January 19 and said the government could not reopen the cases against the President because he enjoys complete immunity in Pakistan and abroad.
