ANKARA, Turkey (Jan. 18) – According to Turkish General Staff reports; the search operation is still underway for the missing pilots aboard a jet of Turkish Air Force which was crashed off Foca Town of western province of Izmir.

The T-37C military training jet crashed on Monday (January 16) afternoon during a training mission and a Turkish under-training pilot, Serkan Sagir, was aboard under the supervision of Squadron Leader Masood Hussain Chhachhar of Pakistan Air Force.

Turkey's semi-official news agency Anatolia quoted Izmir Governor Cahit Kirac as saying that "According to eyewitnesses, the training plane crashed into the Aegean Sea about 7 to 8 kilometers north of Foca town at around 16:30 to 16:45 on Monday."
An emergency rescue team comprising of several ambulances, a CN-235 plane, a Cougar helicopter, three coast guard boats and a search and rescue ship of the Turkish navy, has searching vigorously for the pilots and remains of plane.
Any casualty could not be ascertained yet though some parts of the training jet has been recoved but no body has been found yet. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, according to the Turkish general staff.
