RENO, Nev. - R.I.P. Jimmy Leeward the pilot of the Galloping Ghost, P-51 Mustang - the plane involved in today’s Reno Air Races crash, died at 74. Two other died on the ground while more than 50 injured with 24 in critical condition.

The pilot’s Facebook page is working as a temporary memorial for the pilot presently, while the pilot’s two sites are down right now, most likely due to heavy online traffic.
Leeward has reportedly been racing in the plane since the mid-70s, and the plane itself had a long history, as a part of World War II and active in air racing since 1946.
