TOKYO, Japan (Sept. 21) – At least four people are reported as killed in Japan caused by heavy downpour from the powerful Typhoon Roke, expected to hit Wednesday afternoon.

According to public broadcaster NHK; heavy rainfall is reported in central and western Japan from the typhoon's outer bands on late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The rainfall recorded at up to 50 millimeters (2 inches) an hour, and some parts received more than 450 millimeters (17 inches) over a day.
Chief forecaster Yutaka Kanda of Japan Meteorological Agency told in a press conference that the Typhoon Roke, with maximum sustained winds of up to 167 kph (103 mph) Wednesday morning, could smack Nagoya city or Tokyo today afternoon.
Earlier on Wednesday morning an evacuation warning was given to the one million residents of Nagoya which was lifted later on, according to local media reports.
