Colorado shooting case judge William Sylvester ruled no cameras on next court appearance

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Tue, Jul 24) – The judge in Colorado theater mass shooting case has ruled out on Monday that no cameras or electronic recording equipment will be allowed in the next week’s hearing, when James Holmes will be charged finally, reported by Reuters.

The 24-year-old James Holmes, the suspected gunman of worst mass-shooting in US history, makes his first court appearance in Colorado on Monday (July 23) and dozens of reports and media person were present with their video/audio recording equipments.

But for the next appearance the Judge William Sylvester issued the written ruling in response to a request by Denver-area media for expanded media coverage of the July 30 hearing for James Holmes.

Holmes’ first court appearance came in what is technically known as an advisement, designed to tell a defendant of his/her rights in the case. Holmes was told he is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Formal charges are to be presented next Monday (July 30).
