ANKARA, Turkey – The picture showing the scale of devastation and destruction caused by strong 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck today afternoon.

Dozens of buildings are reported collapsed and hundreds of people are trapped in the wreckage; while the rescue and emergency operations are underway.

According to US Geological Survey (USGS); a strong 7.3-magnitude earthquake rocked eastern Turkey today at about 13:41 (10:41 GMT), some 19km (12 miles) north-east of the city of Van.
Turkey's Kandilli observatory, though, reported the magnitude of the quake as 6.6.
Several houses have been reported collapsed, according to Turkey's Anatolia news agency, yet no exact information available about the extent of any damage or loss of lives.
Dozens of people are feared to be trapped in the debris of 7-storey building in city of Van, near Iranian border, while rescue and emergency teams have already started their work to the save the people as much as possible.
