KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Fri, Mar. 02) – The wave of retaliation and rebellion against the burning of Holy Quran, at the main US airbase at Bagram in Afghanistan, has claimed two more lives of U.S. soldiers Thursday.

The incident took place approximately 2:30 a.m. local time at a joint Afghan-NATO base in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, near the village of Sangsar. The recent incident is third of its kind in the last ten days.
According to New York Times reports; an Afghan soldier and a civilian Afghan literacy teacher opened fire on U.S. soldiers resulting in the death of two of them while four other were injured. Both Afghan men escaped from the scene after firing but were killed on their way after being chased by military helicopters.
The recent incident took place only hours after President Barack Obama declared that his written apology to Afghan President Hamid Karzai following the incident of burning of Holy Quran had helped “calm things down” in Afghanistan.
