At Least 34 Killed, 100 Injured as Twin Blasts Rocked Khyber Supermarket in Peshawar

Peshawar Super Market Blast Killed at Least 34, while more than 100 Injured
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (June 12) – At least 34 killed and more than 100, including Duinya News Channel staff, are injured in two blasts that rocked Khyber Supermarket in Peshawar. Information Minister of KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Mian Iftikhar Hussain confirmed the deaths while condemning the terrorists’ activities in Pakistan; especially in the Province.

Majority of those injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, while some were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

According to initial reports, a cylinder exploded in a restaurant full of people. As rescue teams, and media persons reached the blast site to attend those affected by the blast, another blast, of much greater intensity tore through the area.

Authorities confirmed that the blasts were timed; while the bomb squad claimed that at least one of the explosions was a suicide blast.

Few eyewitnesses at the site told that at least eight dead bodies had been recovered from the debris. They say that the death toll could be higher, with many of the wounded in critical condition.
