Japan Disaster Updates: 2000 Bodies Found on Miyagi, No More Tsunami Alert, Fukushima Survived Explosion

TOKYO – New horizons of destruction and tragedy are being unfolded in each and every hour of relief and rescue efforts. The latest report is that about 2000 bodies have been recovered on the shores of Miyagi prefecture.



Approximately 1000 bodies were recovered washed up on the shores of Ojika Peninsulain Miyagi, while as many were seen in the town of Minamisanriku. Furthermore, Minamisanriku authorities have been unable to contact 10,000 residents of the area, more than half of the population living there, but officials are confident about unconfirmed reports that many of the residents are uncontacted because they had evacuated to nearby Tome city, Kyodo reported.
As per Kyodo news agency reports; after another TV alert of 3-metre tsunami waves Japan’s weather watch agency stated that it has no signs of tsunami again. 

In a live telecast on public broadcaster NHK; an official from Japan Meteorological Agency said, following reports that the three-metre high wave was spotted from a fire department helicopter off Fukushima prefecture, that any wave was unlikely to be higher than several tens of centimetres.

Meanwhile, Jiji Press reported citing Fukushima nuclear plant operator TEPCO that the reactor had survived another explosion.
