Iman al-Obeidi Updates - 'the accuser has now become the accused': Libyan Government Official Ibrahim Mousa

TRIPOLI – In the latest advancement in Iman al-Obeidi case; it is reported that 'the accuser has now become the accused.'

Reportedly, in a press conference on Tuesday spokesman of Libyan government Mousa Ibrahim, said the men charged of raping Iman al-Obeidi, including a son of a high ranking Libyan official, are now suing her for defamation and libel.

“Accusing someone of a sex crime in a conservative society like ours is a very serious matter,” Mousa Ibrahim said. “She gave the names of the people she accused of raping her and they have lodged a complaint for defamation and calumny against her,” he added further.

Amnesty International asked Libyan authorities to conduct a detailed probe into Obeidi's claims.

Next day it was announced by the Libya government that five of the culprits, named by Iman al-Obeidi, have been detained for further investigation.
