BEIJING, China (Nov. 14) – At least seven people were reported killed and dozens of other wounded today (Monday, Nov. 14) as a result of a huge blast in a fast-food restaurant in northern Chinese city of Xian.
The cause of the blast was not immediately clear but the blast was so powerful that it shattered glass windows up to 3km away, officials and state media said. However, the official Xinhua news agency quoted a witness as saying it appeared to be a gas explosion at a first-floor restaurant.
According to local media reports, most of the victims were children who were passing by the building on their way to school at the time of the blast.
Few photographs posted online claimed to be showing post-blast destroyed cars, shattered glass and other debris outside a modern high-rise building.
