ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (Nov. 23) – Leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sherry Rehman, also a former information minister, has reportedly been appointed as Pakistan’s envoy to United States.

According to an official statement issued today (Wednesday, Nov. 23) from Prime Minister Gilani’s office; Sherry Rehman will replace Hussain Haqqani, who has resigned yesterday due to his alleged involvement in memogate scandal, and will take her duties at the earliest.
Further reports suggest that Sherry Rehman met the prime minister before the issuance of appointment order where PM Gilani expressed best wishes for her.
Reported earlier on Tuesday, Hussain Haqqani resigned from the post over the memogate issue, during a high level meeting of civilian and military leadership.
