Cargo Vessel Sinks in Irish Sea |
DUBLIN, Ireland (Nov. 27) – Six crew members of a cargo vessel, which has not been named, are still being searched after the ship sank after being damaged due to bad weather. Two of the crew members have been rescued, BBC News reported.
The coastguard in Holyhead, north Wales, received an emergency call around 0200 GMT on Sunday. It was reported that the ship was cracked due to bad weather in the sea and already started sinking.
Many other vessels in the sea responded promptly to help the sinking ship as the coastguards sent out mayday relay soon after they got the emergency call from ship.
A helicopter from RAF Valley in north Wales and another from Dublin Coastguard reached to the sinking vessel. Lifeguard boats from Pwllheli and Porthdinllaen also responded quickly and arrived on the scene.
High winds, rough sea condition in the dark is making the searching operation more difficult, coastguards reported. The vessel reportedly has already sunk completely.
