The incident took place approximately 2:30 a.m. local time at a joint Afghan-NATO base in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, near the village of Sangsar. The recent incident is third of its kind in the last ten days.

According to New York Times reports; an Afghan soldier and a civilian Afghan literacy teacher opened fire on U.S. soldiers resulting in the death of two of them while four other were injured.
