KHOWST, Afghanistan (Feb. 18) – Afghan police sources confirmed the deaths of five person including a police officer as a result of a suicide car bomb attack on police post at Khost on Friday morning. Khost province is on the border of Pakistan which is extensively thought to be a key source of fighters, funds and supplies for the Taliban.
Fourteen others are reported as injured. Police sources further told media that Toyota van was used by the suicide bomber. Two policemen and two women are included in these 14 wounded persons.
The Islamists fighters repeatedly target Afghan police in their latest movement against President Hamid Karzai's Western-backed government. The police chief, Abdul Hakim Eshaqzai, implicitly pointed towards the involvement of Taliban in this suicide attack.
