LAHORE – A session court in Lahore on Wednesday charged US citizen Raymond Davis on account of double murder. Raymond Davis has right to plea guilty or not guilty.
Asad Manzoor Butt, a lawyer representing the victims, said that the court was also expected to charge Davis for possession of an illegal weapon.
Allegedly a CIA contractor and former soldier of US special forces, Raymond Davis, 36, was arrested in Lahore on January 27 for allegedly shooting dead two motorcyclists in what he claimed was an act of self-defence.
The outcome is a setback for US efforts to secure Davis' release as there were claims from Washington that the accused enjoyed diplomatic immunity. The Raymond Davis case has upset the relations between the US and Pakistan, allies in the fight against terrorism.
