Pak-Afhan Border Clash Claimed at Least 63 Lives including 25 security troops

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - - At least 63 killed on Wednesday in one of the deadliest border clashes between militants and paramilitary troops at Pak-Afghan border in Upper Dir District.

Reportedly, about 200 militants crossed the border on Wednesday evening and attacked a Pakistani check-post with police and paramilitary troops deployed on it. The fight between militants and forces continued up to Thursday and claimed 63 lives including, 35 militants, 25 troops and 3 civilians.   

Ghulam Muhammed, regional police chief, confirmed that 25 security troops and three civilians died, while 35 militants were killed. He said remaining of the militants had escaped back to Afghanistan as the fighting calm down on Thursday.

Ghulam Muhammad further told that the situation was now under control, and funerals of the deceased were being arranged.
