Three-time Olympian and Deputy DG PSB Syed Abrar Hussain Killed by Unidentified Armed Men in Quetta

QUETTA, Pakistan (June 17) – After being gunned down and wounded critically the former Olympian boxer and Deputy Director General of Pakistan Sports Board Syed Abrar Hussain passed away here on Thursday.

Reportedly, few unknown armed men opened fired on the 45-year-old Abrar Hussain when he was returning back to his home from the office. He got severe bullet wounds and immediately shifted to Quetta Civil Hospital for medical attention; but later on had to transfer to Combined Military Hospital (CMH)  due to doctors’ strike in DHQ Hospital, Quetta. 

According to hospital sources Hussain received deep bullet wounds in his head that caused his death.

The culprits escaped from the firing scene after completing their brutal mission.

Syed Abrar Hussain who belonged to Hazara community of Shia sect was a well-known boxer and former Olympian who had achieved a gold medal at the South Asian Games in 1985 and also participated in the Olympics held in Los Angeles in 1984.

Chief Minister and Governor of the province have condemned the killing of Syed Abrar Hussain. Police has registered a case against unidentified persons.
