Two Immigration Officials Suspended in Malaysia Over Naked Squats Chrges

Two Malaysian immigration officials were reportedly suspended by authorities after two Singaporean women claimed to be forced naked squats by officials.

According to detailed reports, on June 9 the Singaporean women were crossing into southern Malaysia for dinner when by mistake they drove through an immigration line, with no official for checking, on the highway border between Malaysia and Singapore.

After realizing their blunder they came back to the immigration check-post to admit their mistake. Immigration officials immediately handcuffed both the ladies, detained behind bars, forced to undress and perform squats. They were kept in custody for almost 48 hours.

Alias Ahmed, Director General of Malaysian immigration, told that two officials had been suspended provisionally pending the investigation.

"We are investigating what really happened and whether the officials in charge complied with the procedures," Alias Ahmed further said. "Thirdly, we are also looking at whether we need any improvement in our procedures."
