Seif al-Islam el-Qaddafi, Son of Col. Qaddafi, Warns of Civil War in His Televised Address on Monday

TRIPOLI - With the start of the day six of riots and protests in Libya which spread into the streets of the second largest city of Benghazi; the revolution wave started to take down the capital city of Tripoli first time.

Seif al-Islam el-Qaddafi, son of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, warned the nation in a televised address about 1:00 a.m. on Monday that their oil-rich country would fall into civil war and even renewed Western “colonization” if they threw off his father’s 40-year-long rule. During his address he reiterated many times that “Libya is not Tunisia or Egypt” — the neighbours to the east and west that both brought down their long-time dictators in the period of just six weeks.

The uprising trembling Libya is the most recent and the most aggressive twist in the insurgence across the Arab world that was just beyond the imagination only two months ago and now causes the biggest threat in four decades to Colonel Qaddafi’s dictatorial power. The United States criticized the Qaddafi government’s deadly use of force against the demonstrators.

The riots and uprising has claimed at least 200 lives and left hundreds injured from the open use of ammunition by the security forces.
