Raymond Davis Case: Drone Attacks Silence is Thoughtful Not Mysterious, Says Former ISI Chief General Retd. Hamid Gul

ISLAMABAD - The silence over skies of the tribal areas, since the detention of Raymod Davis, which were under US Drone attacks is quite mysterious for common people; but thoughtful for those who have some insight in the functioning of secret agencies.

Former ISI chief, General (Retd.) Hamid Gul explained the situation telling that the intelligence network operated by CIA in the tribal belt is clearly missing an important link since the arrest of Raymond Davis; which led to the drone attack silence in Waziristan and adjacent areas.

Raymond Davis was arrested last month when he shot dead two Pakistani youths in Lahore. Presently he is under remand period in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. Washington has objectted the arrest, saying that Davis is a “technical expert” in the US embassy in Islamabad and enjoys diplomatic immunity; but the proof wasn’t provided. His status and presence in Pakistan is still under dark after almost one month of his arrest.

No US drone attack was reported, since his arrest, in the tribal belt on borders with Afghanistan.

Former ISI chief thinks that US spies on the ground in the tribal belt have either changed their positions or run away after the arrest, fearing revelation of their names and locations.
