Ahmed Ounaies, Tunisia’s Foreign Minister, Resigned After Protest by The Staff of Ministry

TUNIS — According to official statement came out through government’s news agency TAP; Ahmed Ounaies, 75-year-old Tunisia’s foreign minister resigned on Sunday. He joined the transition government of Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi on January 27 after the ousted of (then president) Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

According to diplomatic sources, he couldn’t resume his official duties after coming back from France o February 4; due to the interruption caused by the ministry staff who demanded him to quit the office due to his statement in favour of Michele Alliot-Marie, his French counterpart, calling her as "above all a friend of Tunisia" despite of her alleged relationship with Tunisian businessman (who allegedly have contacts with the ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali).
