LUBBOCK, Texas - Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, 20-year-old student of Saudi Arabian origin, was detained on Wednesday on account of alleged use of a weapon of mass destruction. He was accused of purchasing explosive chemicals online as part of a preparation to blow up dams, nuclear plants or the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush.
Reportedly, Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari was deeply inclined by Osama bin Laden's speeches and that he mourned the troubles of Muslims. According to court documents released Thursday, including the private diary of the accused Saudi; he was planning an attack in the United States for years, even before coming to the U.S. on a scholarship.
"After mastering the English language, learning how to build explosives and continuous planning to target the infidel Americans, it is time for jihad (holy war)," Aldawsari wrote in the diary, according to the documents filed by prosecutors.
A federal public defender in Lubbock, David Sloan, said he would be at Friday's court appearance in case U.S. Magistrate Nancy Koenig needed to appoint him to represent Aldawsari.
