ISLAMABAD - Non-bailable arrest warrant against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf were issued third time by an Anti-Terrorism Court on account of alleged involvement of Musharraf in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
According to media reports; the latest arrest warrants will provide only 15 days to FIA to ensure the presence of Pervez Musharraf in the Court.
Earlier, the court deferred the hearing in the Benazir murder case after the FIA required more time to deliver arrest warrants to former president Pervaiz Musharraf. The FIA had asked a one-month time to ensure Musharraf's presence in the court but ATC judge Rana Nisar Ahmed granted them only a two-week time.
During the hearing, the FIA investigation officer prayed to the court that the agency needed a one-month time as the Interior Ministry had written a letter to the Foreign Office to deliver the arrest warrants to Musharraf on his London address.
Pervez Musharraf was Pakistan's President when former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was besieged in a gun and bomb attack as she was leaving Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi after addressing a public rally on December 27, 2007.
The court had earlier issued warrants for Musharraf's arrest on February 12 and again on February 19, and had adjourned the hearing until March 5.
On the other hand, Pervez Musharraf's spokesman has frequently said the former military ruler will not be going back to Pakistan for any court hearing.
