LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Tiaong police sources revealed on Wednesday about the death of a doctor and seriously wounded her spouse. Both of them were gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Tiaong, Quezon, late Tuesday afternoon.
Police sources identified the victims as 57-year-old Dr. Maria Paz Paredes and her husband Dr. Rodolfo Paredes, 57, medical director of the Candelaria Doctor’s Hospital.
Initial field report by police suggests that Dr. Maria got gunshot wounds on her left breast area and right arm and died while being treated at the San Pablo Medical Hospital; while her husband suffered gunshot wounds on his arm and chest area and was undergoing medical treatment and still in critical position, hospital sources revealed.
Police report further revealed that at around 5:15 p.m. while the couple was travelling across Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Lusacan, two men on a motorcycle unexpectedly passed them and one of the gunmen fired at them several times.
