Seven Police Cops Killed in Syria during Clashes Between Police and Protesters

DAMASCUS – The revolution of change in Middle East and Africa is spreading to next destinations and the latest one is Syria captured by this revolutionary waves.

Reportedly, a clash between police and protesters, who were demanding reforms in Syria, in Darra town resulted in death of seven police cops.

According to reports on Damascus Press news website; the police cops were killed during the demonstrations trying to drive away the protesters. The clashes exploded Sunday between the Syrian police and protesters after two young men reportedly killed by the security forces in the town.

Human Rights Watch responded to civilian killings and demanded Syria to stop use of live fire and other excessive force against protesters, as it did on March 18 and 20, 2011, in the southern town of Darra, leaving at least five people dead.

An eyewitness told media that the Syrian police had surrounded the town, to prevent people from entering it.

Al-Jazeera TV reported Sunday that the protesters also burned the headquarters of the Baath Party and the court house in Darra.
