MAGPET, Philippines – Emmie Tamonde, sister of Filipino religious singer Ernie who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Iran, told while talking to media on Wednesday that it was very sad to know about the Emmie’s trial last week.
Reportedly Ernie, belonged to town of Magpet, had been sentenced to life imprisonment by Iranian in November last year on account of travelling with allegedly illegal drugs.
She further told that the package with the illegal substance was actually not belonged to her brother, Ernir, as it was handed over to him by his Iranian friend to drop the same by Thailand when he was just about to fly to Malaysia. The Iranian friend of Erinie also did bear the ticket expenses to Thailand and Malysia. Ernie was arrested by airport security later on while he was processing to board the plane.
According to report from the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran; the Philippine Embassy in Tehran was aware of Tamonde’s case. But embassy officials never tried to see him.
