French jet Fighters Shot Down Libyan Warplane Near Misrata

On the alleged violation of no-fly zone in Libya declared by United Nations; French fighter jets shot down a warplane of Libyan Air Force; while coalition military heads claimed that Libyan Air Force is almost eliminated already.

Action by coalition forces against Libya's Col. Muammar Gaddafi entered a sixth day, NATO warships started guarding the Libyan coast, and airstrikes, missiles and uplifted rebels forced Gaddafi's forces back from two key western cities. Libya's opposition, meanwhile, took haphazard steps to form a government in the east.

Despite disorganisation among the rebels - and confusion over who would run the international operation - coalition airstrikes and missiles seemed to thwart Gaddafi's attacks.
