China Strict Over Ports as Japan's Nuclear Threat Rises

BEIJING, China (March 18) – As the Japan’s nuclear threat is heightening; China has ordered strict monitoring of radiation at its ports.

The radiation monitoring orders clearly aim to follow any goods contaminated by radiation trickles from the nuclear plants damaged from last Friday's earthquake and tsunami.

The twin-disasters in Japan caused damage to factories and infrastructure that will certainly shrink Japan's manufacturing output quite significantly.

Chinese industries are especially disturbed about the cut-off of supplies of components, especially in the electronics and automobile sectors.

China is Japan's largest trading partner, and two-way trade rose 30 percent in 2010 over the previous year to reach $300 billion. Japan's exports to China rose 36 percent during the year to almost $150 billion.
