TRIPOLI - Breaking News: According to Italian news agency ANSA; eleven-member crew of Italian ship has been detained by the armed persons in the Libyan port of Tripoli on Sunday as soon as the Western Allies’ warplane and missiles started to strike Libya. The crew comprises of eight Italians, two Indians and one Ukrainian.
Earlier on Saturday, the U.N. resolution of military options was fully supported by Italy and Italian parliament also passed resolution to authorize the use of airbases and other assets to support military action against Libya.
On Saturday night, the United States, Britain and France began air and sea attacks on targets in Libya, as part of an international military action against forces loyal to Libyan ruler Col. Muammar Gaddafi.
French warplanes fired the first shots at the Libyan military forces in the eastern city of Benghazi. As reported earlier here, hours later American and British warships and submarines fired missiles at targets in the capital Tripoli and the western city of Misrata.
