CHENNAI - England registered thrilling victory against South Africa yesterday; but a hint of bad luck following England as their key batsman Kevin Pietersen ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to his increasing hernia problems. Eion Morgan will replace Kevin Pietersen subject to the approval of International Cricket Council (ICC); as the later has to rush back to his home due to his hernia problem.
Earlier, it was planned that KP will go through hernia surgery after the World Cup; but his recent problems in the field against the hard-fought match against South Africa on Sunday forced England management to act promptly to avoid further provocation of the problem.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) validated the news today morning while the rest of the England squad were heading to Bangladesh for their next match on Friday against the hosts at Chittagong.
