India and England Won Their Important Matches of the World Cup

BANGALORE - - India and England won their respective matches today against Ireland and South Africa at Bangalore and Chennai respectively.

India won the match against Ireland by five wickets; but the performance of the Irish team is commendable, the way they tried to defend the small total of 207. They bowled according to their limits and forced Indian batsmen to make errors.

Ireland almost turned the tables when they picked up fourth wicket of Virat Kohli on the total score of 100; but then skipper played a responsible knock in the company of Yuvraj Singh, who himself played sensibly after dragging Ireland batsmen with his swinging deliveries.

Ultimately, Yusuf Pathan came out in the ground after captain and led the match to its end with his 24-ball knock of 30 runs. On the other hand Yuvraj Singh became the first player to pick 5 wickets and scored half century in the World Cups.

Earlier, India won the toss and invited Ireland to bat first. Zaheer Khan began the damage early in the innings, actually in the very first over. Ireland sskipper William Porterfield (72) and Niall O’Brien (46) played sensibly to rescue Ireland and took the score to 122. Both of them added 113 in the fourth wicket partnership. No other batsman posed any threat to Indian bowlers and the hero of the last match, Kevin O’Brien, fell cheaply on just 9 to Yuvraj Singh.
