MALE, March 9 – A UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) turns out to be a “microlight” plane which has been licensed by the Maldivian Civil Aviation Ministry to conduct a survey till March 16.
An “unidentified” flying object, floating above Villingili in Gaafu Alif Island since this morning, has confused the people, with several gazing at the so-called UFO for hours.
Inhabitants of the island are showing a varied reaction over the object, which some believe is a “large kite” or an “aircraft” similar to that used in a James Bond movie.

A police spokesperson also supported the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) comments, which claims the object is a microligt aircraft that is being operated by a British Virgin Islands yacht at the region, for a survey conducted by a British organization, Ocean Research Group.
