Video: Nuclear Emergency Declared in Japan After Tsunami and Earthquake

TOKYO – After massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Japan on Friday 11th March 2011 at approximately 14:46 pm (0546 GMT) which resulted in a 10 meter high tsunami waves. 

There are numerous fires along Japan's eastern shoreline including oil refinery and nuclear power plant. Nuclear emergency has been imposed in Japan and all the nuke plants have been shut. Thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate areas near the nuclear power plants.



An estimated 4 million homes are deprived of power. The Prime Minister's instructed an emergency response team to undertake the disaster - with aircraft scrambled to the worst-affected area.
