Saif al-Islam Refuted Gaddafi's Quitting Rumours - Rebel Council Rejected Ceasefire Deal; While Moussa Koussa Hinted a "New Somalia"

LONDON - - In response to the statement by Gaddafi's son, Saif al-Islam, in which he refuted any reality in the news of quitting of Col. Muammar Gaddafi; Moussa Koussa, former Libyan Foreign Minister, has warned that due to rigidity of Col. Gaddafi Libya is heading towards civil war which will ultimately end up with a "new Somalia".

Talking to Daily Telegraph Moussa Koussa told that he asked everyone involved to avoid taking Libya into a civil war to save the nation from becoming a new Somalia.

"We refuse to divide Libya. The unity of Libya is essential to any resolution and settlement for Libya," he added further.

In the meantime, Libyan rebels have rejected a ceasefire treaty accepted by Col. Muammar Gaddafi because it did not involve him stepping down. The proposal was presented by an African Union (AU) delegation to the rebels’ council in Benghazi yesterday after they had met Gaddafi. But council headed by Mustafa Abdel-Jalil, the country’s former justice minister, said the initiative “did not respond to the aspirations of the Libyan people.”
