JAKARTA, Indonesia – A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Sulawesi island in central and the eastern parts of Indonesia on Monday, the country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported.
Further reported that the quake struck at 6:25 a.m. Jakarta time Monday (2306 GMT Sunday) with epicentre about 55 kilometres southeast of the island's capital, Kendari, at depth of 18 Km but no tsunami warning has been issued.
An aftershock of 5.2-magnitude was also recorded later on.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) also confirmed on its website that the earthquake measured 6.2 on the Richter scale.
