According to initial details about the incident; Afghan National Army (ANA) started firing mortar shells that damaged many shops and vehicles in Angoor Adda bazaar. On the other hand, an ANA commander blamed that Pakistani forces had fired first.

Political Agent Atif Rehman indicted the ANA and NATO forces of a malicious action. Talking to media, he said the ANA had fired a mortar shell at a paramilitary post near Angoor Adda, injuring two soldiers. Retaliation by Pakistani forces sparked clashes between the two sides, he added.
