PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – Before military commanders of Thai and Cambodian forces reached another cease-fire agreement, the re-born clash between two armies at the border took the life of one Thai soldier and thousand of civilians fled from the area. The current cease-fire is the second one in last two days.
The border clashes in years also destroyed a tourists’ attraction 11th-century temple near disputed land that Thai nationalists have seized on as a domestic political issue.
According to officials from the two countries, at least five people have been killed in two days; one civilian and one soldier from Thailand, and one civilian and two soldiers from Cambodia. Each side charges the other for igniting the border dispute.
