Argentinean plane crash killed 22 on board, including 3 crew members (May 18, 2011)

According to reports by the local Argentinean TV; all of 22 passengers were killed in a plane crash on Wednesday in Argentina's southern Patagonia region. The initial reports suggest that there were 19 employees of an oil & gas company on board with three of the crew staff.

Reportedly, a Saab 340 turboprop, operated by regional airline SOL, lost its contact with ATC (Air Traffic Control) just after 42 minutes it took off from the central Argentinean city of Neuquen.

Eyewitnesses told that the plane was seen crashing about 10:35 pm (local time) near the town of Prahuaniyeu in the Rio Negro province. The place caught fire after hitting the ground.

The cause of the plane crash is yet to be established.
