MANILA, Philippines - - Philippines army sources confirmed on Sunday that four miners were reported dead as a result of tunnels collapse on Saturday during heavy rains in the southern Philippines.
Lieutenant Colonel Lyndon Paniza told further that two of the workers were saved after an extensive rescue operation.
The gloomy incident took place in an 'exploration area' of the Swiss company Xstrata and local partner Sagittarius Mines Inc, which is supposed to be loaded with copper and gold deposits.
The province is suffering from floods and landslides during the last week as a result of heavy rains throughout the area.
