U.S. Military Fighter Jet, A-10 Thunderbolt, Crashed in Germany; Pilot Managed to Eject in Time

BERLIN - A US military fighter plane A-10 Thunderbolt, also known as the Warthog, crashed reportedly on Friday just few hundreds meters away from the residential area of village of Laufeld, police sources told.

 The A-10 Thunderbolt fighter jet was completely destroyed on impact in a field though the pilot was able to eject just in time to receive few injuries, being the details withheld by authorities. Officials of Spangdahlem Air Base refused to provide any information and the name of the pilot was also withheld until his family is informed.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated; while it was reported that military jet crashed about 3:57 p.m. local time north of the city of Wittlich near Laufeld, during a routine training mission.
